Overview
At University Health Services, we have an onsite COLA (Commission on Laboratory Accreditation) accredited, CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) approved moderate complexity laboratory that is available to all registered students. Commonly ordered tests, such as complete blood count and urinalysis, are performed in the UHS lab. A reference lab (or outside lab) is used for less commonly ordered tests.
UHS Medical Technologists are certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. A board certified Pathologist serves as the Medical Director for laboratory operations.
Location and Hours
The lab is located in 407 Student Health Center. Bring a lab order from your clinician or your family physician to the reception window. No appointment is necessary for general lab requests. Special appointments are required for pre-employment drug screens and glucose tolerance testing. Please call 814.865.6212 to schedule an appointment.
The hours of service during spring and fall semester are:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:00 am - 5 pm
- Wednesday: 9 am - 5 pm
- Saturdays during fall and spring semesters: 11am - 3 pm
Fees
The basic clinic visit fee does not include the costs of laboratory services. There are separate fees for all lab services. The fee depends on the lab study ordered by your clinician. Students are responsible for all charges.
