Peer Career Assistant Program

Peer Career Assistants (PCAs) are student staff who make a valuable contribution to the mission of Penn State Career Services. Our PCAs are trained to assist their fellow Penn State students with the following:

Our PCAs are successful! 98.7% of students who work with a PCA agreed that the PCA is knowledgeable about their career related issues, and 97% recommend this service to others. Our PCAs are available to assist students during drop-in hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm in the Bank of America Career Services Center during the fall and spring semesters. Interested in becoming a PCA?

Serving as a Peer Career Assistant has many benefits, including the opportunity to develop your own self-marketing skills. Typically, the PCA position is posted on the Penn State Employment website ( early in the fall semester. Interviews are held late in the fall semester and students are offered a position in early December for the next academic year. Students who are offered a position will then complete a 1-credit career development course during the spring semester that will allow them to develop the skills they need to succeed as a career development facilitator.
